'Steve Bruce is a super intelligent guy': Jose Mourinho's verdict on Newcastle draw

Jose Mourhino says that Newcastle United should have been a beaten side by half-time.

The Tottenham Hotspur boss was furious when Spurs were adjudged to have handballed in stoppage time and Eric Dier's block went to a VAR check.

With Newcastle facing a corner at the other end they were turned back round and Callum Wilson netted the penalty to earn a point.

Mourinho refused to comment on the decision but hinted at his upset when he said: "If I want to give money away, I will give it to charities, not to the FA."

The Tottenham manager said: "I think at half-time, Bruce was super happy with the result at 1-0.

"He is a very intelligent guy, a very experienced guy and a good friend.

"He knows football up and down.

"He knew at half-time, it could have been 3-0 or 4-0."

Mourhino stormed down the tunnel after the award and didn't even watch the kick dispatched but after the match he found time to congratulate Darlow.

He said: "The only thing I wanted to say is my team played very well. I want to be on the bench next match and I don't want to be fined (so I don't want to talk about the penalty).

"I think the boy (Karl) Darlow (Newcastle goalkeeper) was the man of the match, unless you want to give it to some other people that are not a player.
"There goalkeeper is there is save.

"He was fantastic."
