Steve Bruce hits back at claims there is a broken dressing room at Newcastle United

Steve Bruce says his players are getting tired of talk of unrest behind the scenes at Newcastle United.

The former Hull City and Birmingham City boss believes the 2-2 draw with Spurs proved there is fighting spirit within the camp at St James'.

Bruce called his players into training for an early session on Easter Monday and is now preparing for the clash at Burnley next Saturday.

Bruce said: "That is the big thing that frustrates us all, a so-called mole in the dressing room, certain players unhappy, blah, blah, blah, the spirit is not good, this nonsense.

"A lot of players here have been here a long time and it matters to them.

"A lot of them were playing today who have been here four and five years, and there's a certain spirit among them which they need to have because they've got to be at full tilt to get something out of the Premier League week-in and week-out.

"I've got no problems with the spirit among them.

"They're a really really good group who want the club to succeed."

When asked if criticism would have been valid again had Newcastle not scrambled that late draw against Spurs, Bruce said: "I'll let other people make that opinion.

"Whatever I try to do at the moment, unless I get results, then, of course, you're going to be criticised. That's part and parcel of the job in the Premier League in particular.

"There were a few big calls, but as I said, the way the team played, there was a certain freshness about us which I wanted after international duty."
