Steve Bruce hints at Elliot Anderson role in season finale with Luton Town keen on 2021/22 loan deal

Elliot Anderson could get his chance to impress in the first-team with Newcastle United before the end of the season.

The 18-year-old has made just two appearances since being held back from a loan move to Luton Town in January.

Back then the Hatters were eager to give Anderson his fair share of game-time but before Newcastle were sucked into a relegation battle, Steve Bruce felt he would be able to ease the teenager into his senior side.

However, after becoming embroiled in a relegation scrap, Anderson has had to watch on from the sidelines for long periods and even found himself back in the youth team as the young Magpies made it to the last eight of the FA Youth Cup.

Speaking about Anderson's chances of an appearance, Bruce said: “There’s a chance. We understand that he’s making big strides.

"And he’s only 18, the boy, but he’s in and around us.

"Yeah, he might get a chance before the end of the season.

"I’ll look at it, and what we’ve got.

"We’ve got our big players fit at the top of the pitch, of course, in Allan, Callum and Joelinton. He’s got fierce competition."

Chronicle Live understands that Luton will be back again in the summer window to see if they can lure Anderson to Kenilworth Road.

Having secured a top-half finish in the Sky Bet Championship, boss Nathan Jones feels Anderson can help them build again next season and put together a possible play-off push.
