Steve Bruce 'happy' with Newcastle United's response in West Ham draw

Steve Bruce preferred to take the positives from Newcastle United's 2-2 draw with West Ham at St James' Park.

The Magpies are now six matches unbeaten in the Premier League and have scored 10 goals since lockdown.

United could not seize the opportunity to go level on points with joint 10th Tottenham Hotspur.

But they will go into the final five games of the season still chasing a place in the upper half of the top-flight.

Bruce said in his post-game Press conference: "I was happy with the result in the end after going behind twice. Not many teams have done that since the lockdown.

"We're disappointed with the start but the response from the team was good."

United slipped behind twice in the match to goals from Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek, but fought back through Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey.

He said: "They've shown their resilience. I think that's ten goals in four games which is pleasing.

"Unfortunately, we've gifted them the first one and they scored from a set-piece which is disappointing."
