Steve Bruce is expecting Joelinton and Miguel Almiron’s understanding in the final third to blossom in the next few weeks.
Joelinton opened his Newcastle United account in the 3-1 win at Hibernian, while Almiron made his way into advanced positions - despite lacking sharpness.
The Paraguay international missed a couple of good chances in the first half but Bruce is expecting him to improve game by game.
After the pair had Hibs on the back-foot, Bruce said: “They're a threat and they've already enjoyed playing with each other, you can see that straight away.
“They will be a threat to anybody. They both can run and they compliment each other.
"A little bit more clinical, but overall I was very, very pleased with the performance of the two of them.”
Joelinton enjoyed a standing ovation as he left the field in the latter stages.
Bruce said: “The two of them were excellent.
“I thought we started a bit sloppy but for a good hour we were excellent, a threat.
“He is a handful. He's got that wonderful desire to play the game.”
Bruce was satisfied with the performance in Edinburgh and reflected: “We started a bit sloppily but for the first hour I thought some of the stuff we played was excellent and we were a threat.
“If I'm going to be a bit critical we've got to be more clinical with our chances because I don't think we're going to create as many a week on Sunday so if there's on criticism it would be that.
“But I was very, very pleased with their intensity and the way they played.”
