Steve Bruce drops big hint over Danny Rose's future as Spurs full-back makes Newcastle loan move

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has hinted that the Magpies would be interested in making Danny Rose's loan move permanent in the summer.

The Tottenham Hotspur full-back has joined the Magpies on loan until the end of the season, with the deal said to be worth around £2million to Spurs.

Rose still has more than a year left on his current Spurs contract, but while the England international insisted back in November that he would not be leaving Tottenham, and would be seeing out his deal in north London, a reduction in playing time under Jose Mourinho has meant a rethink.

As such, he has now made the move to Newcastle on loan, with Rose admitting that he is excited at getting started at "one of the biggest clubs in England."

Everything you need to know about the January transfer window

It is understood that there is no option, or obligation to buy as part of the loan deal, but Bruce has not ruled out the possibility of Rose making a permanent switch to the north east, even before he has kicked a ball for the Magpies.

"It's a straight loan," Bruce said, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Norwich City this weekend.

"All the details on top of that ask somebody else.

"If there is a possibility to make it permanent we will act in the summer."
