Steve Bruce dismisses talk of a crisis at Newcastle United and issues rallying call ahead of Spurs clash

Steve Bruce has responded to talk of a crisis at Newcastle United ahead of the clash at Tottenham Hotspur.

The Magpies were well beaten against Norwich City and had a Sunday morning training session in the immediate aftermath.

When asked about calling the players in straight after the game, he said: "I don't know where that nonsense comes from. I've done it before.

"It happens at other clubs but here it has been sensationalised. The lads were fine, whether it was scheduled or not."

Bruce was then asked if all of the criticism had been fair, and said: "It's up to other people to be fair and responsible.

"It has been over sensationalised. I understand that.

"There is always a storm at Newcastle and in the minute we are in. After two games it is very early to judge."

But Bruce feels that the spirit behind the scenes is fine.

He said: "Inside the club, and I have been here five weeks, they have been terrific.

"The only way I can shut a few people is by getting results.

"We didn't do enough at Norwich, my aim is to put things right on the training ground."
