Steve Bruce delivers an update on Matty Longstaff and reveals extensions for three loan men

Steve Bruce has insisted Newcastle United are “desperate” for Matty Longstaff to stay on Tyneside.

The midfielder has an offer on the table from a Serie A club Udinese and is prepared to sign a five-year contract at £30,000 per week.

Newcastle have countered the offer of the Italian side and are looking to get the deal done before June 30 when his contract runs out.

Bruce said: “We are desperate for him to stay.

“He’s a Newcastle fan who lives in North Shields.

“We have offered him a fantastic deal and hope he takes it.”

Bruce also confirmed that Danny Rose and Nabil Bentaleb have extended their stay on Tyneside along with Valentino Lazaro.

Bruce said: “There has been dialogue with them all.

“All of the loan players and out of contract players have agreed to stay until the end of the season.”
