Steve Bruce believes supporters can see 'direction' Newcastle United are now heading in

Steve Bruce has insisted Newcastle United's recent run of improved form is a collective effort with his side within touching distance of the top 10.

The Toon boss was delighted to see his side pick up a 3-2 win at West Ham last weekend but is eyeing back to back wins against AFC Bournemouth.

United won 2-1 in the corresponding fixture last season but the Cherries go into this game on a high after beating Man United last weekend.

Speaking at his weekly Press conference, Bruce said: "I am not looking for credit for the recent results.

"Most important is tomorrow, if we can get 15 points at this stage after tomorrow then we would all be delighted.

"With the new players, new system, and new team, it all takes time.

"We are edging towards it.

"I am delighted with how we played last week and now I just want to back it up at home before the big December fixture pile-up."
Bruce admits he is still adjusting to life in the managerial hot-seat at Newcastle.

He went on: "The more results you get sitting here in this chair, the more life becomes a bit easier for you.

"Supporters can see the direction we're trying to go in and will have been pleasantly pleased with what they saw last weekend in particular.

"We were all pleased with the result (at West Ham).

"Everybody wants to applaud the away fans because there was that many on an awful day to try and get to London.

"We can’t take them for granted.

"It was a good day but it’s gone & now we look forward to tomorrow."
