Steve Bruce appeals for Newcastle United fans to 'fill' out FA Cup tie vs Man City

Newcastle United head coach Steve Bruce is hoping that fans can help his side beat Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final.

The Magpies were arguably handed the toughest tie as they were paired with last year's winners, but with the game at home, a full-house could prove crucial.

The falling attendances at St James' Park in the early part of the season, and the impact it had, was not lost on Bruce who suggested the club could 'do something about it'.

The club did so - and offered 10,000 free half-season tickets which were quickly snapped up.

The FA Cup tie is not included in that offer, and fans will have to decide whether to buy a ticket to watch their side attempt to get the semi-finals of the competition for the first time since 2005.

Bruce is hoping the fans decide to back his  side on the weekend of March 21.

“We couldn’t have asked for a tougher opponent in the competition, but it’s great to get a home tie,” he said.

“It would be fantastic to fill St James’ Park and experience the atmosphere that a big FA Cup quarter final can bring."
