Steve Bruce answers question on whether Martin Dubravka will replace Karl Darlow

Steve Bruce says he will do what is right for Newcastle United when it comes to who starts in goal against Wolves this weekend.

Karl Darlow's error at Old Trafford in the 3-1 defeat against Manchester United was described as a "cardinal sin" by Bruce in the aftermath of the game.

And leaks in the national media that Darlow would be dropped have since followed.

When asked about who will be wearing the gloves at St James' Park, Bruce said: "Like every position, I have a decision to make.

"Karl has done very well. Martin has been player of the year the last two years.

"So Karl has done fantastically. I have to do what I think is right for the team.

"You have to pick a team every week and you will disappoint people.

"I have always said it is about how you look after those who don't play."

Darlow has made 26 appearances this season and is just nine shy of 100 games for Newcastle.

Dubravka has been missing due to a cracked heel bone sustained in a pre-season training camp in York.

Meanwhile, Bruce revealed that Joelinton had shaken off a knock picked up against Man United but the clash with Wolves comes too early for Federico Fernandez.

Bruce said: "Joelinton is OK, Fede has trained but it might be too early for him.

"Javier Manquillo is doing better than we though.

"Fab Schar is on crutches.

"Callum Wilson is three or four weeks."
