Steve Bruce answers question about January transfers and reveals he's 'spinning plates'

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has revealed he is looking at new blood ahead of the January transfer window - but knows he has to reshuffle his pack in order to land new faces.

With the Toon squad currently at its maximum of 25 - plus non-playing roster members such as Jack Colback and Henri Saivet on board - Bruce has his work cut out in January.

But he is interested in bringing in new faces, he said: "I haven’t got a full squad because unfortunately we’ve got injuries.

"But I hope we can get those back, I think that’s going to be key for us.

"There’s a few plates spinning.

"That’s about it at the minute, but we’ll see if we can do anything.

"I keep saying it, if there’s someone out there who can make us better, we’ll look to do something.

"But I’m sure that’s the same for most clubs.

"That’s why January is difficult."

However, Bruce also added: "I won’t act unless it is going to improve the team."

Bruce has former South Korean international Ki pushing for a move while Yohsinori Muto is out of sorts having failed to impress on Tyneside.

With Dwight Gayle also attracting interest from Championship clubs there could be options in terms of outgoing transfers.

Bruce said: "That’s one of the difficulties too.

"We’d obviously have to make way for somebody if we were bringing somebody in.

"I might have to let two or three go if we’re going to make changes, otherwise I can’t fit anybody into the squad."

Worryingly Colback and Saivet are draining close to £100,000 per week from club coffers despite being unavailable to Bruce.
