Steve, Alex, Zombie and more from Minecraft announced as the next DLC fighters for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

The world of Minecraft is coming to Smash (Picture: Minecraft/Nintendo)

Nintendo has announced that an entire Minecraft collaboration with characters like Alex, Steve and the Minecraft Zombies will be the latest characters to be added to the Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter list.

During the trailer, which went live at 3pm BST, we got a small look at all the staple moves from Minecraft like digging, building and, of course, setting up TNT traps.

After the character trailer, Masahiro Sakurai, the director of Smash, walked viewers through the decision behind collaborating with Minecraft, saying it was a "massive challenge" to bring the Minecraft characters faithfully into the fold.

True to Smash Bros fighter reveals, this one was particularly incredible.

Check out the reveal trailer below if you missed it:

There will be a longer look at the characters and how they work in a different presentation, but we did get a good look at the abilities we can expect to see when they're in the game.

It looks like there will also be new Minecraft maps added to the Smash created with their traditional block-style presentation, with brand new music tracks created from the original Minecraft soundtrack as well.

It seems like Steve, Alex, Zombie and the Enderman are all their own characters, but it could be the case that these are just different skins for Steve.

We will get more information about these new fighters in a future update by Nintendo.
