Sterling and Mahrez to start - Man City's predicted lineup for PSG Champions League clash

After making a big statement in the Premier League on Saturday, Manchester City will be out to send a message to the rest of European football against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Pep Guardiola takes his team to Paris for what is arguably the standout fixture of the competition group stages.

The match will see the Premier League champions try to tame PSG's illustrious front three of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and summer signing Lionel Messi, who joined the Ligue 1 club on a free transfer after leaving Barcelona.

Having worked with Messi at the Catalan club, Guardiola will know all about the Argentina international and his extraordinary talent. Finding a plan to halt his influence is another matter entirely.

City should feel optimistic about their chances though, as they look for another big result in what is a crucial week for the team.

On Saturday they were dominant against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, with Gabriel Jesus ' deflected strike giving City a deserved 1-0 win.

With a clash with Liverpool to come on Sunday, it will be intriguing to see who Guardiola decides to start with in midweek.

At the back, there are unlikely to be too many changes. The manager may bring in John Stones for Aymeric Laporte, with both defenders recovering from recent injury layoffs. Oleksandr Zinchenko may also come in at left-back, although Joao Cancelo performed brilliantly in the role on Saturday.

In midfield, Fernandinho may get the not ahead of Rodri, while Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva should start in more advanced roles, having worked brilliantly together as a pairing against Chelsea last time out.

It's in attack where City may see the most rotation. Riyad Mahrez was excellent against PSG in the Champions League semi-final clashes last season and will likely play on the right, while Jack Grealish has settled in well on the left.

Up top, Guardiola could go with a number of options. If Jesus is rested, then Ferran Torres and Raheem Sterling are the natural replacements and Sterling may just get the nod for this one due to his superior experience.

City can move five points clear of PSG with a win. The Premier League outfit won their first Champions League game 6-3 against RB Leipzig, whereas the French champions were held to a shock 1-1 draw by Club Brugge.

Predicted City XI: Ederson; Walker, Stones, Dias, Cancelo; Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Bernardo; Mahrez, Sterling, Grealish
