Sterling and Bernardo Silva to start — Man City predicted line up vs Chelsea

Pep Guardiola returns to the dugout after his positive Covid-19 test as Manchester City look to strengthen their hold at the top of the Premier League against Chelsea.

City have been dealt further Covid cases, although names haven't been disclosed, as another potential worry ahead of Chelsea's visit to the Etihad Stadium.

Thomas Tuchel's side themselves have had to deal with new cases with the trip to Manchester coming too soon for Reece James following his injury against Brighton.

Seven City first teamers missed the FA Cup third round win over Swindon last week. Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden were among those who didn't travel, but questions remain unanswered about who may be involved.

In the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge in September, as City put on a masterclass as they thwarted a confident Chelsea side — who at that stage of the season were hotly tipped to win the title.

Fast forward to January and Guardiola has led his side to a 10-point gap over their nearest challengers and a win on Saturday would put the title race firmly in their hands as they look to retain their crown.

Bernardo Silva played a key role in the midfield in West London when the two met in the corresponding fixture and he should maintain his role in the middle of the park for this one.

His all-around performance in front of the Shed End lead to extended plaudits and reaffirmed his importance to Guardiola's City.

Bernardo could be joined by Foden, Sterling and Gabriel Jesus in City's fluid attacking line up, depending on Covid absentees.

Manchester City's predicted line-up vs Chelsea (4-3-3): Ederson, Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Jesus, Sterling, Foden.
