A singer who was performing Stereophonics ' songs at a recent wedding reception got the shock of his life when the band themselves suddenly appeared to cheer him on. Musician Steven Heath was serenading a bride and groom at their big day in North Yorkshire last weekend when rocker Kelly Jones popped his head out of a window above to give the rendition his seal of approval.
It was a huge moment for the 40-year-old from Bradford who said he's been a huge fan of the multi-million selling Cwmaman group since he was a teenager. "I was doing a wedding at a hotel at Rudding Park in Harrogate for a couple called Craig and Collette Smith when someone mentioned Stereophonics were supposed to playing a festival nearby," he said.
"So I decided to do a few of their songs. But just before I started the father of the groom nudged me and whispered that he'd heard the band were staying at that very venue.

"I assumed he was just winding me up though and thought to myself, 'No they aren't, don't be daft."
But, after Steven began performing Traffic from the 'Phonics' debut album Word Gets Around - which turned 25-years-old earlier this week - he looked up to see a grinning Kelly gazing back at him.
"I couldn't believe it," he added. "Jamie the drummer was also filming me on his phone and, at the end, the band's guitarist Adam gave me a round of applause.
"It was incredible experience because that album was a huge favourite of mine whilst growing up and I'd listen to it all the time when I was doing my paper round as a kid. So to think that one day I might be performing tracks from it in front of the lads themselves was amazing.
"I've also since found out that Kelly is a huge Leeds United fan and his team had been playing live on telly while I was singing. That he took the time out from watching the match to come to the window was very humbling."
'Phonics' frontman Kelly, who'd played to packed-out crowds at the Hardwick Festival in County Durham the night before (Saturday, August 20) said: "I was watching the Leeds vs Chelsea match in the room above with the boys when I heard Traffic being played... then Dakota and A Thousand Trees. So we popped our heads out and wished everyone well."
He added: "Turns out the groom was also a Leeds fan. And we beat Chelsea too - happy days."
