Steps singer 'sick and tired' of online abuse as she confronts Twitter bosses

Claire Richards has hit out at Twitter over trolling. The Steps singer took to the social media platform on Sunday, March 26, to call out "those in charge" after sadly being subjected to a barrage of abuse.

The 45-year-old said she was "sick and tired" of receiving mean-spirited messages online as she revealed she'd been called "a vile rude b**ch" and a "'self obsessed chav" in a string of tweets.

Sharing her dismay, Claire told her 160k followers: "Wow, Twitter is all about giving tonight!

She added: "I'm not sure I've ever been called a vile rude b**ch, the fat one from steps, a self obsessed chav, and told I can't have any kind of ego as I only sing songs for 8 year olds in 4 consecutive tweets! What a world we live in 2023. Not sure what triggered all that but deffo a massive reason why Twitter is a toxic platform! Whoever is in charge should be ashamed of themselves!! @verified @Twitter @TwitterCreators @TwitterSupport @TwitterMktgUK @TwitterBusiness."

Claire quickly pointed out to her fans that she was "fine" but admitted she was, understandably, "sick and tired" of it.

She said: "I'm fine btw everyone! I’m just sick and tired of this s**t. It's just not cool. Luckily I'm a 45 year that's heard it all and cares less now but we're not all there yet!! It's irresponsible of the people that run it." For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
