Steps' new video drops as part of 25th anniversary celebrations - and fans are 'obsessed'

Steps have released the music video for their brand new single, Hard 2 Forget - which has been recorded as part of celebrations for the pop group's 25th anniversary this year.

The chart-topping group - which formed in 1997 - consists of Claire Richards, 44, Faye Tozer, 46, Lee Latchford-Evans, 47, Lisa Scott-Lee, 46, and Ian "H" Watkins, 46.

Their latest single - taken from their upcoming greatest hits compilation, Platinum Collection - was released this morning, with the accompanying music video now out too.

It shows the group reminiscing about a past love whilst in a cafe, with dancers - including a drag performer - grooving along to the the new song during each of the choruses.

Each member of the group gets their own solo moment, with the five of them coming together towards the end to dance as disco lights flash across the backdrop of the cafe.

The lyrics document not being able to get over someone, with the quintet singing in the choruses that although the person was "easy to love," they are "so hard to forget."

Announcing the release of the music visual, Steps said in a post on Instagram : "We had so much fun filming this video. We hope you love dancing to it as much as we did."

Lisa - who lives with her family in Dubai but returns to the UK for Steps projects - said of the new single: "I am literally so excited for this release. One of my fave songs of ours'."

The video attracted praise from fans, with one responding: "I'm obsessed with this song and the video is gorgeous." Another said it's "feel good music" you can play on repeat.

"They're timeless, great sense of fashion and sounded so current," said another viewer. Whilst a fourth commented: "Steps never fail to deliver. Always bringing the happy vibes."

"Sounds like a classic Steps song and yet so fresh and so current," another viewer said of the new release. Whilst another said: "I've never seen a more versatile pop group."

Steps have had much success over the years and despite having not made it onto the UK Singles Chart since the release of Scared of the Dark in 2017, they've continued to impress fans and critics with their music over recent years.

Heartbreak in This City - featuring Michelle Visage, 53 - was released last year to much acclaim, with the track reaching Number 15 on the UK Singles Download Chart upon release.

Their third greatest hits compilation - Platinum Collection - is due to be released next month to mark their 25th anniversary, with their brand new single recorded for that.

The group announced the upcoming album earlier this year, with them telling the Official Charts Company that the 25th anniversary is the "perfect moment" to look back.

They acknowleded they've released 3 new studio albums since their latest greatest hits compilation, so they felt it was time to "combine all [their] hits on one package" for fans.

"We've recorded two brand-new tracks for the album and presto, the Platinum Collection was born. [...] We hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as much we did," they said.
