The Steps star revealed he and his wife Kerry-Lucy were expecting their first child together back in April this year, after almost 10 years of marriage.

Bandmate Ian Watkins, aka H quipped "Guncle H !", while Tracey Beaker actress Dani Harmer wrote "Congratulations" alongside a celebratory emoji.

Blue singer Anthony Costa also wished the new parents well, with TV presenter Jenni Falconer writing: "Ah congratulations. So thrilled for you both."

The new parents first met at work back in 2007, catching each other's eye while performing at the same gig.

The couple struggled to become parents as they suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage three years ago before becoming parents to their new arrival earlier this week.

Lee previously explained to OK! magazine: "We've wanted a baby for so long. We did start thinking, "Why isn't this working for us? What's wrong with us?" You doubt each other slightly, but luckily we have a very strong relationship.

"We went through a time where all of our friends were pregnant and people were always walking past us with prams and I guess we hated that and had a bit of resentment towards them, which I know we shouldn't but it was difficult and frustrating."

The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, appeared together on Loose Women earlier this year to discuss their excitement about finally becoming parents.

Then-pregnant Kerry-Lucy told viewers that she had to take three pregnancy tests to reassure husband Lee that she was expecting their first baby together.

Speaking on the ITV show in April, Lee added: "The first one was a very faint blue line. For whatever reason I still didn't believe it and the next day the digital test said 'pregnant' and I couldn't argue with that one."

The singer, who found fame as part of the group Steps, also revealed how he told his bandmates the happy news.

Due to coronavirus restrictions, his announcement to Claire Richards, Lisa Scott-Lee, Faye Tozer and H took place online rather than in person.

"Telling the bandmates was wonderful," Lee said on Loose Women.

"We were just like this on Zoom planning the year ahead and our upcoming tour and I just held up the scan picture and said 'I'm going to be a bit busy guys, you better meet somebody.'

"They all broke down and were crying tears of joy. They were very happy for us."
