'Stepping stone' - former Nottingham Forest man sends message after Premier League transfer

Chris Wilder didn’t need to sell the Sheffield United dream to Jack Robinson – the Blades had already done that in their Premier League campaign.

The former Nottingham Forest defender made the switch to Bramall Lane earlier this week for £500,000.

He is the second January signing for United, following Jack Rodwell’s addition, and will be looking to maintain their impressive season so far.

The Blades have lost just seven of their 24 Premier League fixtures and sit eighth in the division following promotion last term.

“Coming here is an opportunity I’ve always wanted,” Robinson told the Star. “Even before when the chance has been there. I told my agent and my family that this is the club to come to.

“Chris didn’t need to sell it to me; the lads have done that with how they’ve performed.

“I watched them in League One and then watched and played against them in the Championship. What they’ve done is brilliant, and the club as a whole sold itself to me.”

Wilder had tried to sign Robinson when he left Queens Park Rangers to join Forest in the summer of 2018.

“I was excited as well as nervous because it is quite a big opportunity for me,” he said. “I wanted to get it done and I’m more than happy it went through.

“When I was younger and inexperienced I didn’t know how to handle it but the experience of playing week in, week out in the Championship has given me the stepping stone to try and prove myself in the Premier League.

“I’ve put the hard work in and now this is my opportunity to try and prove myself again.”
