May 26--Dexter Bullard and Hallie Gordon will join the 2016-17 season at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, the first under artistic director Anna D. Shapiro, as directors of the season's final productions.
Bullard, who directed "The Flick" this season, will direct Tracy Letts' world premiere "Linda Vista," about a newly divorced man facing a mid-life crisis. The production is slated to run March 30, 2017 through May 21, 2017.
Gordon, who is the artistic director of Steppenwolf for Young Adults, will helm Taylor Mac's "Hir," the dysfunctional-family dark comedy that opened in 2015 at New York's Playwrights Horizons. "Hir" opens June 29, 2017 and runs through Aug. 20, 2017.
As previously announced, the season also includes "Visiting Edna" (Sept. 15-Nov. 6) by David Rabe, directed by Anna D. Shapiro; "The Fundamentals" (Nov. 10-Dec. 23) by Erika Sheffer, directed by Yasen Peyankov; "The Christians" (Dec. 1, 2016-Jan. 29, 2017) by Lucas Hnath, directed by K. Todd Freeman; and "Straight White Men" (Feb. 2, 2017-March 19, 2017), written and directed by Young Jean Lee. An additional non-subscription production, "Pass Over" by Antoinette Nwandu, will be produced in May 2017.
