Stephon Gilmore is a frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year

Stephon Gilmore continues to cement his place as one of the NFL’s best defensive backs.

He was named First-Team All-Pro, earned a Pro Bowl nod and became a Super Bowl champion last season. Gilmore was Pro Football Focus’ highest graded cornerback last season and his high-level play is rolling over into the 2019 season. Gilmore seems to keep improving and he earned his first Defensive Player of the Month honors in October.

Gilmore is the leader in one of the NFL’s best defenses right now with the New England Patriots, and they’re ranked No. 2 in pass defense with 150.2 yards allowed per game. All of this being said, Gilmore is currently the frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

Nick Bosa, Aaron Donald and Myles Garrett are currently right behind Gilmore.

Gilmore has recorded three interceptions — one for a touchdown, 10 passes deflected and 27 tackles this season. His confidence is unmatched and is ability to cover the best opposing receiver every single week is impressive in itself.

The Patriots will play the Philadelphia Eagles after the bye week and Gilmore will continue to build his case for this prestigious award.
