Stephen Welsh admits Kyogo Furuhashi is a Celtic training 'nightmare' as he gushes over Japan star's skills

Stephen Welsh reckons Kyogo Furuhashi's movement off the ball is up there with the best he's ever seen at Celtic.

But he didn't need to watch his stellar showing against Hearts to see that - as he's had to face it up close and personal in training.

Kyogo has made himself an instant Celtic hero with five goals in five appearances for the Hoops so far. His strike against the Jambos, which ultimately sealed a 3-2 win, came after a disguised late run which left John Souttar trailing in his wake.

And Welsh, who had earlier headed in the second goal for Ange Postecoglou's men, was left raving about the way he has adapted to the Scottish game so far.

He also admits that he's a nightmare to play against, having done so extensively in training in the month since he joined.

“He’s coming up against good defenders and big defenders who will want to be physical with him, but he’s always wanting the ball and I thought he handled that well.

“That is going to happen, especially up here in Scotland.

“Kyogo’s quality speaks for itself. His movement is one of the best I have seen come into Celtic.

“It must be an absolute nightmare to play against. Actually, I know that myself already from training with him.

“I think he also showed that he can play on the wing as well instead of just being up front.”
