CHICAGO _ The latest twist from the National League Division Series is that Stephen Strasburg will start Game 4 Thursday afternoon for the Washington Nationals as they take on the Chicago Cubs.
The Nationals would not confirm multiple reports that Strasburg, who was allegedly too sick to replace Tanner Roark, is now ready to go.
Nationals manager Dusty Baker said Tuesday that Roark would start because Strasburg was under the weather, citing the change in climate, the hotel air conditioning and Chicago mold.
Strasburg took a beating over the decision, and his agent, Scott Boras, told Jon Heyman that if he was well enough he would pitch. MLB Network's Jon Morosi, quoted an unnamed source, tweeted that Strasburg was now expected to start.
