Stephen Sondheim is coming to the National Theatre this week

The National Theatre has announced that it will host a conversation with Stephen Sondheim this Friday.

The acclaimed, multi-award winning composer and lyricist will be speaking to Dominic Cooke, who is currently directing a revival of Sondheim’s Follies at the theatre.

The 40 minute-long conversation takes place at 6:10pm in the Olivier Theatre on Friday March 29.

His other works include Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Into The Woods and Company, which closes this weekend on the West End after a widely praised run directed by Marianne Elliott.

Sondheim has won multiple Tony, Grammy, Olivier and Academy Awards as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The National Theatre has a history of staging Sondheim's musicals, having produced Sweeney Todd, A Little Night Music, Follies, Sunday in the Park with George and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Tickets cost £12, with £7 concession and can be bought at nationaltheatre.org.uk
