Stephen Robinson on Barnsley and Millwall radar as Motherwell boss eyed by Championship pair

A pair of English Championship clubs have put Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson on their managerial shortlist, according to a report.

The Fir Park gaffer has guided his side to third in the Premiership so far this season with Barnsley and Millwall both interested in taking him south of the border.

Barnsley have just sacked Daniel Stendel while Neil Harris quit as Millwall boss last week.

And the Daily Mail state the 44-year-old is high up on the shortlist for both jobs as the strugglers look to turn their season around.

Barnsley, who are owned by the same people who are currently trying to take control of Partick Thistle , want a manager who is renowned for giving young players a chance and Robinson fits that bill.

The Northern Irishman had a disappointing spell in charge of Oldham and was sacked after six months having won just seven of his 33 games.

He's been at Motherwell since 2017 and guided the club to two Cup finals - losing both to Celtic.

But he's been widely praised for his change in approach at Fir Park after his sides were notorious for their physical style.

A switch to more attractive football has won over the fans again with youngsters such as David Turnbull, James Scott and Jake Hastie making their name at the club.
