Stephen Robinson gives St Mirren squad update as four players ruled out of Rangers clash

St Mirren will still be down to the bare bones when they welcome Rangers to Paisley on Sunday afternoon.

The Buddies are desperate to bounce back quickly from their gutting 4-2 defeat against Motherwell at Fir Park last weekend.

But they’ll have to do so again without a host of first team starters, including goalkeeper Jak Alnwick who serves the second game of his suspension after picking up a red card against Dundee United.

Stephen Robinson will also be without Scott Tanser, Greg Kiltie and Ryan Flynn as his side look to upset the odds against the reigning Premiership champions.

He is backing stand-in keeper Dean Lyness to bounce back from a tough outing last time between the sticks.

Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “We’ll have the same bodies as we did last week. We’ve got a really small squad, only 17 in it with three injuries.

“We don’t think Greg Kiltie or Scott Tanser will make it. Ryan Flynn will likely be back the week after.

“Jak has a two-game suspension so Dean will stay in and he’s an experienced goalkeeper, a good goalkeeper.

“It’s never one person’s fault. There’s four or five incidents with every single goal last week where players could do better.

“You defend as a team collectively and you succeed and lose collectively.

“Dean’s absolutely fine, so we’ll go again with what we had against Motherwell.”
