Stephen Robinson faces anxious wait on injury reports on two key players and expects more St Mirren departures

Stephen Robinson is praying for good news as he sweats on the fitness of two key players and more potential departures.

The Buddies’ important 1-0 win against Motherwell on Saturday came at a cost, with Jonah Ayunga hobbling off and Trevor Carson sustaining a hand injury late on.

With the January transfer window soon to slam shut, Robinson also admitted he fears further departures - with Dylan Reid expected to join Crystal Palace after the clubs agreed a fee for the 17-year-old academy talent and clubs still circling around Keanu Baccus and Ethan Erhahon.

With the St Mirren squad set to be stretched to the limit, Robinson told Renfrewshire Live Sport: “Carson will have an X-ray and we are quietly hopeful. My physio doesn’t get too many diagnoses wrong. He has been positive with it and, thankfully, we have a very good number two in Peter Urminsky.

“Jonah would be a big loss, considering we have let two strikers out on loan to even up the finances.

“We are going to hope and pray and we will work together and I’m confident the board - if they possibly can, I understand the parameters - will help me.

“I do expect more people to leave. There’s things bubbling in the background. We are trying to get the best price for people but we are not in a position to turn good offers down.

“We have ideas and people we like. So, if people do leave, I’m sure the board will help me.”

When asked if Reid was one of the players expected to leave, Robinson said: "Potentially, yes."
