Former Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson has given an insight into how Rangers have destroyed teams this season following criticism of his side's Ibrox showing.
The Light Blues were forced to come from behind after conceding an early goal against Motherwell back in December with the Steelmen playing without a striker for most of the game.
However, the ex-Fir Park gaffer insists it was the style of play from Steven Gerrard's ruthless league leaders that forced him into the defensive style.
He told BBC Sportsound: “I got a little bit of stick because I think Steven came out and said we played 5-5-0 or something at Ibrox earlier in the season.
“What actually happened was we were 1-0 up after 70 minutes. We were playing 5-3-2 and we asked our centre-forwards to drop to the halfway line.
"I’m telling this because of how technically good I thought Rangers were on the day. We were 1-0 up for 70 minutes, bearing in mind this was a team that hadn’t lost a game all season, and what they done was they overload in wide areas.
“They pushed their wing-backs so high, and kept their wide players wide like they usually do, and that was just a small tweak. And what happened was our two centre-forwards ended up following the full-backs all the way back, and it ended up that we couldn’t get out.
“It was wave after wave of attack and we just couldn’t get out. It’s just a small tweak that to the naked eye and to people who don’t understand football, they wouldn’t see why our centre-forwards had to go that deep.
“It was brilliant and that’s the reason you win leagues, and they have the personal to carry that out.”
