Stephen Robinson believes St Mirren are still heading in right direction despite Livi draw

Stephen Robinson paid tribute to his Buddies for throwing the kitchen sink at Livingston as they chased a final home win in Paisley this season.

The St Mirren manager felt his side deserved to pick up all three points on Wednesday night, with Curtis Main, Alex Greive and Jay Henderson all going close to bagging a winner on the night.

Despite being held to a goalless draw that leaves their chances of finishing seventh all but over, Robinson still felt there were positives to take heading into their final game of the campaign - against Aberdeen this Sunday.

Robinson said: “I thought we were excellent throughout. We were dominant and should have won it.

“We were well organised and it was another clean sheet. Hopefully people see the direction we are heading.

“I thought we won the midfield battle without creating a lot of clear cut chances.

“I thought there was a lot of good play, which continued on from the last two games.

“It is easy at this time of the year for the season to fizzle out.

“But I thought the boys were excellent and now we go to Aberdeen hoping to keep the run going.

“We were struggling before and flirting with relegation, but now we are getting fitter and stronger and we will kick on for next season.”
