Stephen Mulhern fails to see funny side of joke about Ant McPartlin

Presenter Stephen Mulhern was left angry this morning - after he was asked if he would get in a car with Ant McPartlin.

Stephen, who is close friends with Ant, was left speechless during an interview about the new series of Britain's Got Talent.

Jamie Theakston couldn't resist sneaking in a jibe about Ant's drink driving charge during the chat on Heart Breakfast.

While the group started off with an innocent conversation in which Stephen explained why he would never have replaced his close friend Ant on I'm A Celebrity – claiming Holly was the perfect one for the job – things soon turned sour as Jamie made the awkward gag - reports Mirror Online.

Good Morning Britain's fans left cringing after car crash Rhodri Giggs interview

Jamie said: "How's he going, we saw him on Britain's Got Talent?,"

To which Stephen responded: "He's brilliant. He's on top form. All the family are back together. Everyone's happy".

But then Jamie chipped in: "Would you accept a lift from him, though?," causing Stephen's face to instantly drop.

Stephen then awkwardly sat in silence as Lucy laughed and berated her co-host, crying: "Jamie!"

He later tried his best to crack a smile at the incident, but his frustration was clear to see, and he muttered "wow" under his breath.

Ant and Dec in the new trailer (ITV)

Ant returned to BGT alongside Dec last weekend, after his presenting partner was forced to front the live shows alone while he went to rehab.

In the aftermath of the crash, Ant also stepped down from Saturday Night Takeaway mid series, and called in Holly Willoughby to replace him on I'm A Celebrity.
