Stephen McGinn signs for Hibs as Jack Ross explains thinking behind transfer

Former St Mirren captain Stephen McGinn has signed a one year deal at Hibs.

The 31-year-old will become the third McGinn brother to turn out for the home side at Easter Road – joining ex Hibee John and current first team player Paul.

McGinn has been part of the Hibs set up so far this season, and has been helping out with the first team since pre-season training returned.

Manager Jack Ross explained why he was so keen to get the deal done, and ensure the player would be around for the full season.

He said: “For me, Stephen adds a lot to the group and the environment at HTC.

“You can never have enough good professionals with leadership qualities and we’re fortunate, as I’ve said repeatedly, to have a great core of those at Hibernian."

Stephen added: “It means a lot to me to have signed for Hibernian and it goes without saying that no-one needs to explain the size of the club to me.

“John and Paul have thrived here and it’s a privilege to get the chance to play my part as well.”
