Stephen McGinn set for Morton transfer as Hibs midfielder ready for loan move

Morton boss Gus MacPherson is set to make Stephen McGinn his first signing.

The ‘Ton gaffer is ready to sign up the veteran star from Hibs on-loan for the rest of the season.

The 32-year-old previously played under MacPherson at St Mirren.

The midfielder will go straight into the ‘Ton squad for Saturday’s trip to Dunfermline.

McGinn is keen to go out and get more games after seeing limited playing time at Easter Road this season.

MacPherson was appointed new Cappielow gaffer on Wednesday, bringing with him assistant Andy Millen on a deal until the end of this term.

The club had been without a permanent manager since David Hopkin's resignation, with coach Anton McElhone stepping in on an interim basis.

His final match in charge proved to be a crucial victory Inverness Caley Thistle just a day before MacPherson arrived.

Morton sit 6th in the Championship table, two points above the relegation play-off spots but still only five away from the promotion play-offs.
