Stephen Kingsley wants Hearts 'problems' addressed as returning star reveals true feelings on flexible role

Stephen Kingsley says Hearts must address some of the problems they experienced in the first half of the season.

The Jambos have had highs and lows so far in the campaign, with a disappointing Europa League drop in to Europe's third tier in the Conference League ultimately ending up fruitless despite some victories on the continent. In league terms Robbie Neilson's men paint a picture of inconsistency with a draw, two wins and two losses in their last five.

Kingsley, who suffered an injury against RFS in Europe, is available for selection for the Gorgie outfit with other injured stars at Neilson's disposal for the visit of Kilmarnock. Hearts will be looking to climb the table from fifth before a hectic schedule and an Edinburgh derby all in the next few weeks.

The defender admits he is personally raring to go and happy to play in any position deployed, but says as a collective there is work to be done.

He told the club's website: “It’s been good getting some time off, some time to reflect. It came at a good time for us and all the boys are ready and raring to go for tomorrow. It was obviously frustrating picking up that injury against RFS but after lots of training and being away with the boys in Spain, I feel ready.

“I don’t think it’s going to happen just because we’ve got players back. They’re back but we need to address the problems that we saw in the first part of the season. Just because some are returning from injury doesn’t mean we’re going to go on a run. We really need to put the work in now to get the results. I’ve got confidence in the boys to stand up to the challenges that are ahead.

“I’m comfortable playing anywhere: I played much of last season the left of a back three, but I’m still a left-back naturally. I don’t have a problem playing anywhere; I feel I can always go and do a job."
