Stephen Kingsley hands Hearts a derby boost as Robbie Neilson provides injury update for Hibs clash

Defender Stephen Kingsley is fit and available for Hearts' weekend showdown with Hibs.

Jambos boss Robbie Neilson revealed the 27-year-old has come through a full week's training unscathed ahead of the sold out Edinburgh derby at Tynecastle on Sunday.

Kingsley has featured in only one of Hearts' four Premiership fixtures so far - an opening day win over Celtic - but is back in contention for this weekend's top of the table clash.

Hearts have coped well without the former Swansea City star and Neilson suggested it's testament to targeting to versatility in recruitment.

“He has been back in full training since the end of last week so he will be fine," the manager told the Edinburgh Evening News.

“Alex Cochrane dropped in to left centre-back in the last couple of games and did really well with Stephen out.

“Andy Halliday has also been great at left wing-back, so we have options. We will get injuries throughout the season and, with Stephen being out, we have managed to put two players in there who have done really well.

“Since the end of last season we have focused on bringing players in who would give us plenty choice in every area so I’m pleased with the squad we have now that the transfer window is shut.”

Summer recruit Cam Devlin has earned a place in the squad after impressing in training.

“He will be involved," Neilson confirmed.

“He’s looking sharp. We had a bounce game last week and he did really well.”

And his fellow new arrivals Barrie McKay, Taylor Moore and Ben Woodburn are also pushing for a place.

It's reported Hearts' only confirmed absentee is defender Cammy Logan.
