Stephen Kingsley 'gutted' by Hearts penalty miss as he promises Hampden return

Gutted Stephen Kingsley insists he is 'so proud' of his Hearts team-mates as he promised fans they would return to Hampden soon.

The left back missed a vital penalty in the shootout after initially helping his team get back in the game by nodding in the second goal for Hearts.

It was the first comeback they had to do before falling behind Celtic again in extra time, and Kingsley is confident Hearts will return to a major final soon.

The former Swansea defender is on a deal until the end of the season and he insists the whole squad gave everything they could.

He took to Twitter to say: “Can’t begin to describe how gutted I am with how things ended yesterday but so proud of these lads, couldn’t have given any more! Thank you for all the amazing messages of support. We’ll be back.”

His full back colleague Michael Smith insists full concentration is on the league for Robbie Neilson's men as they look to bounce back to the top flight.

He said: “Absolutely gutted about the outcome yesterday everyone gave their all and it just wasn’t to be... we pick ourselves up now and concentrate on the league”
