Stephen Kenny watches his two sons help their side to victory days after Luxembourg win

Stephen Kenny was back at a football match two days after Ireland's 3-0 win over Luxembourg as he watched his two sons play in the North West Leinster League.

Eoin and Fionn Kenny featured for St Mary's College as they beat De La Salle 1-0 on Tuesday.

FAI Grassroots shared a snap of the Republic of Ireland manager with his two sons after the game on Twitter.

They commented on it: "Sunday | Manages Ireland to a 3-0 win over Luxembourg.

"Tuesday | Watches his two sons, Eoin & Fionn Kenny play for @maristdundalk in a 1-0 win over the De La Salle in the North West Leinster League.

"A great few days for @FAIreland manager Stephen Kenny."

The Ireland boss is expected to be handed a new contract to lead the Boys in Green through the 2024 Euro qualifiers after the FAI meet on November 29.

And Ireland players want the FAI to end the Kenny contract saga so they can focus on the future without distraction.

Jason Knight - Ireland’s game-changer in Luxembourg - wants the matter put to bed.

“I think the whole squad does,” said the Derby County ace. “We can see progression and we want to keep improving with the gaffer as it is.”

Ireland have two home friendlies in March against as yet unknown opposition before four Nations League games in June and two more in September.

Knight added: “I want to see the manager in place. He has been great for me and great for all the lads.

“I know that (decision) is down to other people, but I definitely want to see the manager stay.

“The FAI probably won’t ask me personally but if they do, I’ll say I want the manager to stay.”
