Stephen Kenny has full Ireland squad to pick from ahead of Scotland clash

Ireland have no last minute injury concerns going into tomorrow’s Nations League clash with Scotland at Hampden Park.

The Boys in Green are still in the hunt for a top two finish in the group ahead of the Scotland and Armenia encounters.

And manager Stephen Kenny revealed this evening that he has a full squad to pick from other than Andrew Omobamidele who pulled out at the start of the week.

Speaking at Hampden Park in Glasgow, Kenny said: “Injury wise, there’s no issues at all. Everyone in the camp is fully fit, nobody is even doubtful, everyone is fit.”

But Kenny still has big selection calls to make as his captain Seamus Coleman and defensive stalwart Shane Duffy are struggling for club games.

Coleman has only made one appearance in the League Cup for Everton while Duffy has made three brief appearances since joining Fulham on loan from Brighton and their place in the team hangs in the balance.

Kenny said: “It’s always a dilemma. It’s not an exact science, you want your players to play every week, there’s no substitute for that, for playing consistently.

“But we don’t live in a perfect world and sometimes some of our players don’t get selected.”

Kenny added: “It’s a special game and both sets of players I’m sure are looking forward to it. We treat every game in isolation.

“Scotland had a good win the other night (3-0 against Ukraine) and we respect that. They played well.

“We played well in our last few games and from our point of view, with this Irish team, it’s a new Ireland, a new Irish team, a new identity.

“We’ve given over 16 players an international debut in the space of 18 months. The style of play is what the Irish public is connecting with in a major way.”
