Stephen Kelly wanted as Rangers starlet is at centre of Salford City loan bid

Salford City have made a move to sign Rangers youngster Stephen Kelly on-loan.

The English League Two side are in talks with the Ibrox side over a potential deal.

Salford – backed by Manchester United’s class of 92 – want to seal a quick fire deal for the Scotland under-21 star.

City boss Gary Bower wants to add him for their promotion push.

Rangers are keen to let the 21-year-old go out and get more first-team football after his successful loan at Ross County last season.

Kelly has also been linked with moves to Tranmere, Kilmarnock and Dunfermline Athletic in this window.

A move to Salford – who are bankrolled by the likes of Phil and Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and Nicky Butt – is likely to hold big appeal for Kelly.

The academy graduate knows he needs to go and get first-team football before he can come back and push to push to be part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst ’s first team.
