Stephen Graham made incredible offer to This Is England co-star after tragic death of his mum

Stephen Graham made an incredible offer to his This Is England co-star after the tragic death of his mum.

The actor starred in the iconic film as Andrew "Combo" Gascoigne alongside Thomas Turgoose who played Shaun Fields when he was just 14.

But the teen suffered a tragic loss as his mum, Sharon Turgoose, sadly died of cancer before being able to watch her son on the big screen.

Now, Thomas has spoken about the promise Stephen made to his late mum and the offer he and director Shane Meadows made to him, GrimsbyLive reports.

"My mum passed away from lung cancer after I finished filming This Is England. She never got to see the finished film," the actor said on the Private Parts podcast, hosted by Made In Chelsea stars Jamie Laing and Francis Boulle.

"Shane Meadows dedicated the film to my mum.

"Stephen Graham promised my mum he’d look out for me. Everyone involved in This is England are family to me."

But Stephen, who is currently starring in the BBC Sunday night drama, Time, wasn't the only person ready to step up to offer Thomas a home as director Shane was also going to adopt him.

He added: "When my mum died I moved in with my dad and I didn’t know him so Shane Meadows and Steven Graham were going to adopt me if things didn’t work out with my dad."

Thomas invited his This is England co-stars to his private wedding on New Year's Eve in 2018.

He was joined by on-screen mum Jo Hartley (Cynth), Vicky McClure (Lol), Andrew Shim (Milky), Stephen Graham (Combo) and Andrew Ellis (Gadget).

Thomas, 29, revealed in March that he is going to become a dad for the first time.

He announced the special news on Instagram by posting a picture of the sonogram next to a board which reads: "We’ve been keeping a little secret… 17.09.2021."
