Stephen Glass warned his dithering Dons he’s ready to wield the axe after Aberdeen slumped to a third defeat on the spin at St Mirren.
The Pittodrie side were leading 2-1 at the interval before imploding after Teddy Jenks’ 51st minute red card and have now gone eight games without victory - their worst run in 11 years.
Two goals in the 10 minutes that followed the red turned the game on its head and a furious Glass pointed the finger at individuals whose mistakes are costing his side dear.
Goalkeeper Joe Lewis was at fault for the first and third as a strong travelling Red Army saw their anger at last week’s meek defeat to St Johnstone compounded.
And brassed-off Glass said afterwards: “When you’re footballer, it comes down to your individual performance. Are you capable of staying in the team and affecting the team positively?
“We’ve got a big group of players so the players are going to know there is a competition for places right across the board.
“It’s something that’s real at a club like this. You cannot continue making mistakes and expect to stay in the team.
“The disappointment was in the goals we gave away. A good football team like St Mirren pick holes in you.
“It was important at 2-1 to make yourself hard to score against and we gave them goals.
“I think it’s been individual mistakes. As a unit we looked alright but individual mistakes are costing us severely.
“You can’t legislate for individual mistakes. You can’t continue making mistakes.
“I wasn’t disappointed with the players’ response - you could see they were trying.
“If the game stays 11 v 11 we walk out of here with three points. St Mirren fans weren’t happy at 2-1.”
The Dons now sit seventh - eight points off leaders Rangers - and have kept just one clean sheet in 14 matches.
Glass, who had no complaints over the red card, said: “It doesn’t make for good reading. We know we need to do better. It’s the toughest league in years.
“I thought we did okay up to the red card, which massively impacted the game.
“It’s not something Teddy’s meant to do. He overran the ball and their guy came from behind play.”
It’s Celtic up next at Pittodrie with Dundee, Hibs, Rangers and Hearts to follow.
And Glass said: “The fans were magnificent and they saw a game and spirit in the group. We’re disappointed with what we gave. They know that and we know that.”
