Aberdeen are set for January talks over the futures of loan pair Austin Samuels and Teddy Jenks.
Both players have struggled to get game time since joining the Dons in the last window.
Samuels was signed from Wolves with an option to buy in the summer but has only made cameo appearances and hasn’t got off the bench in the last four games.
Brighton midfielder Jenks, who scored the winner at St Johnstone earlier this month, has had more playing time.
Aberdeen have already sent midfielder Matty Longstaff back to Newcastle after his disastrous loan spell.
Boss Stephen Glass said: “As was the case with Matty, they will be looked at in the window by the parent club and ourselves.
“We have decisions to make on what is best for the clubs and the players.”
Glass knows freeing up his wage bill will allow him to strengthen his squad and he will be ready to move if the right players become available.
Aberdeen are trying to land St Mirren midfielder Jamie McGrath on a pre-contract but Glass is aware there is will be interest in several of his top stars.
Blackburn want to sign Ryan Hedges on a pre-contract while a string of clubs are eyeing a move for Calvin Ramsay.
Glass said: “Recently, their performances have been very good and that is always the danger of interest when you go into a transfer window.
“We are ready to react if we have to and we are ready to add if we choose.
“There’s a danger we could be weakened by players going but we need to be ready to strengthen.”
Scotland cap Lewis Ferguson is another who could attract interest.
Glass praised him for his recent performances, especially as he came to the fore with club captain Scott Brown sidelined.
He said: “I have just told him the last three or four weeks he has been exceptional. He has been good all year but he has really stepped it up over the last few weeks.
“His performances were excellent and he really stepped up when Scott Brown wasn’t in the team.
“Any time a midfielder scores that amount of goals it is great.
“He doesn’t get a lot of credit at times but he was exceptional at St Johnstone, Hibs and against Dundee.”
