Stephen Glass in Rangers and Steven Gerrard admission as Aberdeen boss makes 'inexperience' comparison

Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass hopes to follow Steven Gerrard's Rangers rebuild model at Pittodrie.

Ahead of the Ibrox trophy day Gerrard reflected on his appointment as boss in Govan and admitted some doubted his ability to take on such a big job due to his lack of managerial experience.

However, the gamble has paid off for the club after dethroning Celtic to claim the Premiership title and making huge strides in Europe.

With the Dons standing in the way of an unbeaten season, Glass has revealed his admiration for his counterpart ahead of the final day of the season.

Glass, who is taking the reins for the first time permanently, believes there are similarities between the bosses and his ambitions at Pittodrie.

Gerrard's had only ever taken charge of the Liverpool Academy sides while Glass was in charge of Atlanta 'B' in America.

And Glass said: "I read Steven's comments today actually about people not thinking he was the right person for the job when he was an inexperienced manager.

"So there's a little bit of things like that echoing here and long term that's the aim, to be a successful manager.

"I'm looking forward to the game first and foremost but Steven is a young manager who has done really, really well.

"He has built something at a massive club. He went in and handled a big job and come through it with flying colours, and had an unbelievable season.

"But it's not about me and him, it's about the two teams, and it's about us showing what we have got and showing an intent and showing we can handle that type of atmosphere, because hopefully when we go back there next season, there's 50,000 people there and the players will be able to handle it."
