Stephen Flynn in perfect comeback to Piers Morgan after England World Cup loss

The National:

SNP MSP Stephen Flynn had a perfect response to a gloating Piers Morgan after England were booted out of the World Cup by Lionel Messi's Argentina.

England went ahead in the game early in the second half through Anthony Gordon's strike and during the game journalist Morgan quipped on Twitter/X: "Is Messi playing?"

But sadly for Moran, the tweet aged like milk as Argentina scored two late goals to secure a place in the World Cup final, with both assisted by the legendary Messi.

Tartan Army fanatic Flynn simply couldn't resist hitting back at Morgan after the match, as he shared the news host's tweet and said: "Yes. In the final."

To rub it in further on his Instagram, Flynn shared the exchange with an added rendition of the unofficial English anthem Jerusalem. Ooft.

Flynn also took the opportunity to share a picture of himself in hysterics after England exited the tournament, as he shared a video of England fans singing about how Scottish fans could "book your flight back home" to the tune of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie.

Thomas Tuchel's men will now have to endure the game no one wants to play as they take on France in the third and fourth place play off on Saturday.

It's certainly been a fun 24 hours since Scottish Secretary Douglas Alexander suggested Scots fans should support England in the Commons. Seemingly this was a pretty poor call, given SNP MP Lara Bird and Labour MP Euan Stainbank were pictured celebrating together in a Westminster bar after Argentina's dramatic comeback.
