Stephen Curry suffers broken left hand against Suns on Wednesday night

During an awkward collision with the Phoenix Suns’ Aron Baynes on Wednesday night, Stephen Curry suffered what Marcus Thompson of The Athletic was first to report as a broken left hand.

The collision occurred during the game’s third quarter after Curry drove around Kelly Oubre and attempted a finish at the rim. Baynes, who attempted to defend Curry on the drive, awkwardly landed on Curry’s left hand after the guard fell to the floor. Baynes was whistled for a blocking foul.

The injury news, which the club confirmed shortly after Thompson broke the news, is the latest blow in what has become a nightmare season for the Warriors. Depending on the extent of the injury to Curry, it’s time to begin thinking about the draft lottery.

Already playing without Klay Thompson, the Warriors’ season began in a less-than-stellar fashion: The club lost its first two games, against the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunder, in rather decisive defeats. The Warriors followed Sunday’s loss to the Thunder with a win at the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, but it all came crashing down on Wednesday.

Although it’s too early to know how long the broken hand will keep Curry out of action, the Dubs will have serious issues remaining competitive in the Western Conference without their top gun.
