Stephen Curry says he missed ‘Space Jam 2’ because of scheduling

With less than a week to go until the start of the NBA’s free agent period on Sunday afternoon, the offseason of movement and roster moves for the Los Angeles Lakers has an end in sight. And once the heavy-lifting of the team building is over, the main story of the summer for LeBron James will head to a new stage.

LeBron James is already breaking in the new basketball court on the set of ‘Space Jam 2’ and he will be joined by several other NBA and WNBA stars for the film. But it was rumored for a while that the league’s top players wouldn’t join him and one of those top players finally revealed why.

Golden State star guard Stephen Curry said he was approached for the movie and that he also has a lot of respect for LeBron James and producer Ryan Coogler. Curry told The New York Times that scheduling became the determining factor in why he didn’t join the new age Tune Squad.

“I know LeBron and Ryan Coogler are going to be doing amazing things. It’s going to be awesome,” Curry said. “Part of it was in terms of things that I had going on. It was just the timing, to be honest. Not being able to commit. And I know Ryan really well. We had a lot of conversations about it.”

The supporting cast for ‘Space Jam 2’ has plenty of star power without Curry, however. Anthony Davis, Damian Lillard and Klay Thompson are all expected to star in the film as well as the WNBA’s Diana Taurasi and Nneka Ogwumike.
