Stephen Curry leaves Suns game early after collision with Aron Baynes

As if things couldn’t get any worse for the Warriors on Wednesday night — they began by making the wrong kind of history against the Phoenix Suns — Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry was forced out of the contest in the third quarter.

With the Warriors trailing 83-54, Curry collided with Suns big man Aron Baynes on a drive to the basket. Baynes appeared to land inadvertently on Curry’s wrist, which forced the former two-time MVP out of the game.

Curry, who should have shot two free throws because of a foul called on Baynes, was unable to do so. By NBA rule, a player who does not shoot the free throws is disqualified from the contest. It was the last thing the Warriors needed as they attempt to build positive momentum after beginning the season as poorly as they have.

All night long, Golden State looked a step slow, and with the club struggling to find any sort of mojo in the early going this season, the last thing they needed was for anything to happen to Curry.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, though, here we are.

Curry was escorted to the locker room, and obviously, his status will be updated as more information becomes available.

At the time of his exit, Curry was 3-for-11 from the field, including just 1-for-7 from 3-point territory. He’d scored nine points in 21 minutes.

Following Wednesday night’s game, the Warriors will next be in action when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Friday night. It is not yet known whether Curry will be available to suit up for that contest.
