Less than three months after Stephen Colbert’s final Late Show episode on CBS, the comedian and former talk show host is still making headlines in regards to the network’s politicized staffing shifts both on-air and behind the scenes. Well I guess it’s not technically Colbert himself, but rather his daughter Madeleine Carlisle, who has abruptly ended her CBS News gig by resigning from the in-flux 60 Minutes crew.
The long-running and highly respected 60 Minutes is heading into what may be its most important year yet when it returns to the 2026 TV schedule, as it will be a true test of whether or not audiences will tune in and be accepting of all the changes that boss Bari Weiss has made. But the news program’s 59th season will arrive without Madeleine Carlisle’s efforts on display.
According to Status (via TV Insider), Carlisle submitted her resignation notice earlier this week after serving as an associate producer on 60 Minutes for the past four years, give or take. It wasn’t the first time she bid farewell to the news giant, either.

Carlisle first joined CBS News back in 2017 as an intern, but that gig didn’t last too long before she bowed out to take on reporting assignments for the magazines Time and The Atlantic. She made her return to the network in 2022, when she took on duties as an associate producer.
One of three children shared by Stephen Colbert and wife Evelyn McGee-Colbert, Madeleine uses the last name Carlisle for professional reasons. And she may not be the only behind-the-scenes staffer packing up and shipping out this week, as Status also reports that multiple other producers are looking into alternative options, which is an indication that further exits may be imminent.
Problems have plagued 60 Minutes for many months now, with head honcho Bari Weiss at the heart of it all. Scott Pelley's firing, after he claimed Weiss was "murdering" the news series, set off a wave of staffing changes that included the terminations of correspondents Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi, as well as Tanya Simon, Draggan Mihailovich, and Matthew Polevoy, with other producers (and Anderson Cooper) making voluntary exits.
After The Late Show wrapped up and gave its host more time to devote to his Lord of the Rings follow-up project, Evelyn McGee-Colbert also stepped down as the President of the nonprofit organization Montclair Film, the namesake of the annual film festival. If the couple’s sons Peter and John also happen to quit or lose their jobs soon, that’ll make it a full house.
Colbert has been largely radio silent since The Late Show ended, occasionally posting about his dog’s birthday and the like, so I wouldn’t readily expect him to share anything about his daughter’s 60 Minutes exit. But I’ll still be looking out.
