Stephen Colbert compares Trump's lengthy press conference to one-man show: 'If you like Fleabag, you'll love… Douchebag'

Stephen Colbert has ripped into Donald Trump for his lengthy press conference on Monday, comparing it to a “one-man show” titled “Douchebag”, in reference to Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s hit play and TV series Fleabag.

The Late Show host mocked the president for the Cabinet meeting, which devolved into more than an hour of Trump airing his grievances.

“Today at the president’s first cabinet meeting since the impeachment proceedings began, he invited in the ladies and gentlemen of the press, and explained that there’s nothing to be concerned about for 71 minutes,” said Colbert.

“71 minutes is not a press conference, that’s a one-man show. If you like Fleabag, you’ll love Donald Trump in: Douchebag.”

Colbert has been a vocal critic of Trump since he began campaigning during the 2016 presidential election, and recently attacked his "absolutely bonkers" refusal to participate in the ongoing impeachment inquiry.

Waller-Bridge’s critically acclaimed solo play recently had a four week re-run at the Soho Theatre in London after the second series of its TV adaptation swept most of the comedy awards at the 2019 Emmys.
