Oct. 27--Chance the Rapper teased a duet with "Late Show" host Stephen Colbert during an interview Friday with New York radio station Hot 97. He appeared to tease it Sunday on Twitter, where he wrote "Premiering my new song with @StephenAtHome tomorrow night ..." And when he visited the "Late Show" Monday, the 22-year-old Chicago rapper and Colbert teased it some more.
Colbert jokingly scolded Chance during the appearance for blabbing about the collaboration.
"Chance, what part of on the DL do you not understand?" Colbert said. "We agreed we were not going to talk about it."
With the cat already out of the bag, Colbert revealed a few details about the collaboration but not too many. It's still unclear if the song is a gag for the show.
"This was your idea," Colbert said. "When you first mentioned doing something together, I was completely surprised and blown away. I couldn't imagine that it was real. But I'm super excited that we're doing it. I'm looking forward to continuing to work on it. I'm excited about the little documentary we're making about it too. ... I wish we could tell people when, but soon."
"That's the cool thing to do now," said Chance, who performed his new song "Angels" on the show as Colbert watched from his desk wearing a halo. "You drop a Beyonce. You release out of nowhere."
